What happens during inclement weather? |
Camp is open rain or shine. If it is raining (without thunder and lightning) campers will be encouraged to be outside. It is important for campers to be prepared for the weather. In case of thunderstorms or other severe weather, all campers and staff will seek shelter in the camp headquarters building. While inside campers will play quiet games or do simple crafts to pass the time. Our HQ building is all cinder block with no windows, so it is a very good place to seek shelter. Usually storms are short lived and once the storm passes, campers will be dismissed to their normal activities.

Is there poison ivy?
|
There is poison ivy, oak & sumac on the property. However, trails in the woods are clearly marked and maintained. As long as you stick to the trails, you have a very low chance of coming in contact with poison ivy, oak or sumac. Mosquitoes and other pests are part of life in the woods. Campers are encouraged to bring and apply insect repellent. A camp nurse is always on hand to assist with stings or other minor injuries. Camp is open 9am-4:30pm Monday- Friday. Our archery lessons are taught by certified instructors from Land O Lakes Bowmen's Club. Lessons are taught under close supervision and archery safety is incorporated into the lessons. New for 2017! We are excited to be able to offer boys units at camp. Boys will be placed in units based on the grade they will enter in the fall. Yes. However, in the case of a severe allergy or a very limited diet it may be in the best interest of the camper to bring their own food. Please contact the camp director for specific concerns or questions regarding this. Additionally, a camp nurse is always on hand to help with medical emergencies. Our sponsor, Land O Lakes Bowmen's Club has an extensive youth archery program taught by many of the same instructors who teach at camp.
